Choose Focus, Flow, or Spotlight mode

SwiftRead has three ways to guide your eyes through a document:

  • Focus shows a few words at a time in the center of the screen.
  • Flow keeps the full text visible and moves a highlight through it.
  • Spotlight hides the other text so the words you're reading stand out.

If you're not sure which one to use, try each mode for a minute or two. You can switch anytime.

Switch reading modes

  1. Pause reading, then select the speedometer icon to the left of Play.
  2. Choose Focus, Flow, or Spotlight in Speed Reading.
  3. Close the window and press Play.

The mode you chose will be marked Active.

Fine-tune each mode

  • In Focus mode, open Advanced to adjust Focus Stage and, when available, Context Lines.
  • In Flow or Spotlight mode, open Advanced to choose Continuous or Paginated scrolling.
  • In Spotlight mode, open Advanced to adjust Active text fade-out duration, which controls how quickly the words you've just read fade away.

If you don't see the speedometer icon, pause reading first.
