Enable audio narration

Audio narration reads a document aloud while SwiftRead keeps the spoken words in sync with the reader. Free accounts get a daily narration allowance; PRO includes unlimited narration.

Open a webpage from the browser extension

  1. Open the webpage you want to read.
  2. Click the SwiftRead extension icon in Chrome or Edge.
  3. Click SwiftRead current page.

If a document is already open in SwiftRead, continue with the steps below.

Turn on narration

  1. Pause reading if it is playing.
  2. Click the speaker icon next to Play.
  3. In Text-to-Speech Settings, turn on Enable Narration.
  4. Close Text-to-Speech Settings.
  5. Click Play.

Narration works in Focus, Flow, and Spotlight modes. You can also double-click or double-tap the speaker icon to turn narration on or off without opening settings.

If narration isn't working

  • If the speaker icon is missing, pause reading first.
  • If you've used the free daily allowance, wait for it to reset or select Upgrade for Unlimited Narration.
  • If you hear the wrong voice or language, open Text-to-Speech Settings, select Current voice, and choose a voice from Voice Library.
