Change your reading speed

Reading Speed controls how quickly SwiftRead moves through a document. It's measured in words per minute (WPM).

Set your reading speed

1. Pause reading, then select the speedometer icon to the left of Play.
2. In Speed Reading, find Reading Speed.
3. Drag the slider to choose a WPM value.
4. Use -10 or +10 for smaller adjustments.
5. Close Speed Reading.

SwiftRead uses the new speed right away. While reading, you can also use the speed decrease and increase buttons in the control bar to adjust the pace by 10 WPM without stopping.

A few things to know

• If the speedometer icon is missing, pause reading first.
• If Reading Speed shows Capped, narration is on. Narration supports speeds up to 700 WPM; turn it off if you want to read faster.
• Reading Speed only changes the pace. To show more or fewer words in each group, change Words at a time in the same window.
