Choose voices and narration speed

Choose a narration voice that fits the document's language, then adjust the reading speed to a comfortable pace.

Choose a voice

  1. Pause reading, then select the audio icon in the reader controls.
  2. In Text-to-Speech Settings, toggle Enable Narration on.
  3. Select the Current voice row.
  4. In Voice Library, search by voice, language, or locale.
  5. Select the speaker button next to a voice to hear a sample, if one is available.
  6. Select a voice to save it for that content language.

SwiftRead remembers the voice you chose for that language.

Change narration speed

  1. Close Text-to-Speech Settings.
  2. Select the speedometer icon to the left of Play.
  3. In Speed Reading, adjust Reading Speed.
  4. Press Play to listen at the new speed.

If the voice or speed isn't right

  • If voices are shown for the wrong language, select the language at the top of Voice Library and correct Content Language.
  • If Reading Speed shows Capped, narration has reached its 700 WPM maximum.
  • If no voice sample is available, select the voice and test it by starting narration in the reader.
