SwiftRead "slows down" suddenly while using it: what can I do?

You might experience an issue where the speed at which SwiftRead is showing you the text suddenly "slows down", while you're using it to read something.

If this happens, it's usually because your browser and/or your computer have "efficiency" settings that slow SwiftRead down.

Try the following workarounds:

  1. If you're using a laptop, try plugging your laptop into a power outlet.
  2. Change or disable your browser's "Efficiency mode" or "Performance optimizations":
    1. For Microsoft Edge
      1. Select Settings and more  > Settings  > System and performance .
      2. Scroll down to the Optimize Performance section.
      3. If Efficiency mode is On, try changing the Efficiency mode to Balanced Savings
      4. Try SwiftRead again. If the issue still persists, set the toggle next to Efficiency mode to Off.
    2. For Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/12929150?hl=en
  3. Change or disable your computer's "efficiency mode" or "power savings" settings.

We're still looking into a fix for this issue, but the above workarounds should help. If they don't, email help@swiftread.com.
