Troubleshoot extraction failures

If an import finishes with empty text or errors, the source might be blocked or not text-based.

Common causes

  • The page blocks automated extraction.
  • The file is scanned or image-only, and does not have selectable text.
  • The document is still processing.

Steps to try

  • Confirm the file type is supported (TXT, PDF, EPUB, or Web URL).
  • For PDFs, check whether the file is text-based (has selectable text), or is a series of scanned or image-only pages.
  • Try Paste Text or Markdown instead of a blocked URL.
  • Refresh and re-import the file.
